Methyl Ethyl Ketone, also known as MEK, Ethyl Methyl Ketone, and 2-Butanone. MEK is a useful solvent in nitrocellulose coatings and vinyl films and lacquers, "Glyptal" resins, paint removers, cements and adhesives, organic synthesis, cleaning fluids, printing, catalyst carriers, and acrylic coatings.
It is a colorless liquid with a actone- like odor. Methyl Ethyl Ketone is a flammable liquid that is soluble in alcohol, ether, and miscible with oils.
